Afraid no matter how you do it, it will not work for US Spec unless you have the JBL system. I have purchased a remote start kit that uses the factory fob but just haven't gotten around to installing it

What did you purchase to add it? I am looking for a kit everywhere but not sure which to get

I can start mine two ways .... Toyota Connect (via app) and Key FOB. Remains to be seen if the Key FOB will still function once my Connect subscription expires.

Did you verify with your dealer to see if an add on is available? A search of the web seems to indicate its possible from certain aftermarket companies and under certain condiditons.

Did your cross come with the auto start feature installed. I have the XLE and mine did not and can't get that sequence to work

Mine did and I thinks its part of the Remote Connect package. Maybe if you dont have that package or once the package expires the FOB remote function also ceases to function.

oh well, long story short, got third party install remote start (not by dealer) for a week and then I bump into some of issue at the 7 days (I think I press couple unlocked switch + lock switch, could be some sort of combo to turn on some mode on, then the Cross got lock up, have to use key to unlock door, press the engine can't turn off the car) the engine light on, AWD disable, FWD engaged.....

I so freak out and drove to the closer dealer and have them take a look..... They said I have to contact the installer... anyway, long story short, what I heard from them is even they got similar issue with their installer install other brand remote start to the Cross.

So luck out I remember that my installer gave me the other remote fob and I can use that to kill the power (stop the engine) when I drove the car home and located that fob. Once I kill the engine, start the car again and the engine warning light is gone. My Cross back to normal now.

I guess even the dealer got issue themselves to install the remote start, so just be careful.... Don't get third party install the remote start......

I have a 2023 LE AWD. It has remote start with the Toyota app but not from the key fob.

jeez. we don’t have the “premium” i assume you mean the jbl? but i just tested the button combo on our ‘23 LE AWD and it worked. I assumed we could only remote start via the app.

i replied/quoted the wrong person but the person above who said press lock twice and hold on the 3rd. it works. thanks!
