Hey all,
We have had our Corolla Cross since March 2022 in Central Alberta. Overall we love it but the windshield has already taken a beating and has two different cracks going in separate directions and it will need to be replaced.

Glass shop stated the vehicle to too new and they can’t even order replacement glass for it yet, and suggested we ask the dealer.

Dealer quoted $1300 CAD ($900 glass + $400 install + ADAS recalibration)

Anyone replaced their windshield yet and found a better price? Edmonton area if anyone local sees this…

Thanks all

Talk to your insurance agent as it might be covered by your policy. In the US most I insurance companies will cover the cost of replacement with no deductible assuming the adjuster approves the replacement.

Unfortunately, here in Alberta windshield damage is so common that most insurance policies exclude glass coverage unless the damage is the result of a collision

I previously drove a Subaru with Eyesight. That official documentation said the system must be calibrated after each new windshield. I had a large crack across the center and Safelite quoted $1000 USD to replace and recalibrate. A local shop replaced without Eyesight calibration for $500, and everything worked fine afterward (steering assist, AEB, etc).

I ran a test quote on Safelite for the Corolla Cross, and received a figure of $915 USD. It is unknown if that includes calibration. In reading other Toyota forums, the Safety Sense recalibration only needs done if the cameras are disturbed during the glass replacement. Many have reported replacing Toyota windshields without having to recalibrate, but it is common for the Safety Sense system to throw an error/shut down afterward and require recalibration.

You might check with an independent shop. The windshield will be cheaper, and best case scenario, will not need recalibration. If it does and the car throws the Safety Sense/AEB error, you'd just take it to the dealer to have the calibration done there. Either way the dealer is going to be the most expensive place to have the glass replaced.

One question is will any place have the glass for the Cross in stock? The Cross is so new in the USA that finding normal things like tires and glass outside of the dealer might be a challenge. I've inquired about winter tires for my Cross (TireRack, Firestone) and none of their systems will accept the Cross for tire recommendations even though the size is known.
