Whistling sound in dash

I have a 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross AWD XLE. I purchased in April 2022. I've just recently began to hear a louder whistling sound when I'm driving and seems to be coming from the dash or under the hood. I checked for debri and leaves, removed a few leaves, but it is still making this sound. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm planning to call the dealership to make an appointment.

I had no idea raising the car voids the warranty...I think I will order the seat jackers tomorrow. The company is called Desert Does It out of Utah. I don't like tampering with seats, which could be safety issue, but I'll buy it and take it to my mechanic. I'll go from there...I'll let you know. I just need that seat raised an inch or two. Thank you for helping me and your support!
I would suggest having your elderly family member finding the comfortable seat height in the drivers seat. When you arrive at that perfect height, match the passenger seat with that using the seat jacks you mentioned.

Absolutely yes. I really appreciate you saying this.
I got a new Corolla Cross LE, AWD in Sept 2022, it is excellent! I did hear a rattling/humming sound while parked in the garage, it was coming from the back of the car close to the back wheel on the drive side! I just opened and closed the trunk door and other doors and it stopped, however, we heard a similar sound for the second time and did the same thing and seem to stop! Has anyone experienced this as well?

Yes! The same thing happened to my Corolla cross le.
Every time I had to open and close both rear doors, I heard a rattling sound coming from the back/underneath the car.
It was the heat shield plate, wait until it’s cold and use your own hands to adjust it so the noise is gone.

I had my door handle ( driver side) cracking! Really loud! Even while driving it was making a loud noise! I cracked that plastic thing open took a long screwdriver and had two screws loosened! Fixed! The screws were too tight.

I've had none of this ever, even at 80mph...
I bought my Cross in April. Over the summer i noticed the whistling sound but just ignored it. Finally got it looked at. It turns out, it's the Roof Rack!! Got it fixed and now no noise.

I am hearing a whistling sound at times. Exactly what was the roof rack fix? What did the dealer do? Thanks!

I have this whistling sound also. What was the fix? Is this something I can do myself? At times it drives me crazy and only occurs at between 1000 and 1200 RPM at slow speeds. 😒

Yes, please tell us what they fixed on the roof rack. I'm stymied with this issue that won't go away.
THANKS!

jpmmccormac.....The rubber gasket underneath the left side roof rail was raised up (bubbled) just above the windshield. I would hear the intermitted whistling sound depending on road speed and in cross winds. The dealer ordered and replaced the rail assembly. Note that the dealer told me the rail and gasket are one part#. I have not heard any more whistling sound. I hope CrossNY chimes in and tells us exactly what his dealer did. I'd like to know!

Thanks for information. I just checked the rails and the front of the driver side rail is quite loose compared to the passenger side though no bubbling is visible. I covered it at the tip end and inside of the rail with painter's tape; the outside seems tight. Tomorrow I'll test it and provide an update.

Bad roof rail gaskets seem to be the common thread here. Mine was elevated on the right rear rack. I didnt notice a whistling sound, yet, but if it happens I'll def check there first. Seens like a TSB is warranted, i.e. if customer complains of whistling sound, check roof rail gaskets.

I covered the front of the rails with masking tape and voila the whistling is gone! Haven't decided to take it in or just epoxy it down myself.
jpmccormac....I would take your car to the dealer and get a new rail installed. Another thing I noticed was that the rubber on mine that was replaced was thinner and flimsy in the suspect area. We pay good money for these cars. No epoxy here for the first 300K miles. As mentioned my dealer said the gasket could not be ordered separate. Only way to get from Toyota was one part# that was the rail and gasket assembly. Let me know!

I made an appointment on Feb. 2nd to have the rails inspected and hopefully fixed or replaced. I covered the front of both rails with masking tape and that stopped the noise until I take it in.🙏

Took my Cross in today. The dealer is requesting Toyota to replace the roof rails under warranty. I'm waiting to see what they say. I hope they don't have to remove the headliner. 😳

Update. Tech said only the driver side rail is defective. They will replace the passenger side if it becomes an issue in the future. Supposedly the part will arrive in a few days. LOL. I'll believe it when I see it.
jpmccormac.....The headliner was not removed when my rails were replaced. There are bolts underneath the pop off covers where roof cross bars are installed if used.

Thanks. That's what I assumed but She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed was sure they'd mess up the headliner. NOT.
