My Cross shuts down as it was designed to at stops. Every once in a while it throws dash lights and won't automatically restart when the brake is released. One time on a hill it started rolling backward. I have to put the vehicle in park, turn off, and turn back on. Then put in Drive and I can drive again. Super frustrating and nerve racking. Dealer has no idea what to do.

It has happened to others. Seems to be related to wet weather. Any advice?

My experience is similar to this video: Toyota Corolla Cross 2023 Engine Shut Off Malfunction

Very strange. Did the dealer find ANY codes registered in the OBD computer? I would pursue this with Toyota.

The next time it happens use your SOS button and call roadside assistance; at least you'll have the incident recorded.

When my battery died in the first week I used SOS to have my Cross towed to the dealer even though the tow truck Toyota sent was able to jump start the battery. Turns out I had a defective battery. 🙃

Is the SOS feature something you have to pay for?

Glad I found this website and thread. This exact thing happened to me this morning - the first day of driving my new Cross XLE AWD! Interestingly, I was in downtown traffic when it started to rain. I turned on the windshield wipers, stopped at a red light and the car would not restart on the green. All sorts of warnings flashed on the dash. Thankfully I had the presence of mind to put it in park and restart it, but it was unnerving especially with a brand new vehicle! I thought I had done something wrong! I will definitely be registering the incident with the dealer who sold me the car, and turning the feature off for now.
