Has anyone installed a hitch on their cross yet? Thinking about getting a kayak trailer instead of waiting for Yakima to make their crossbar system for the Cross.

Installed Hitch with the help of my son, follow instructions, be patient and did it in about 1.5 hour
bought tow hitch at local dealer, list price $322.50 I paid net price $182.75
I made the mistake of not buying the tow bumper facia cover PT228-16222 which I just ordered.
List price $96.75 I paid net price $63.00 I'll add pictures when is installed.

This PDF manual instruction has the wrong additional item required for installation ( factory mistake) which is the
Lower Bumper Facia Kit PT228-48220 , I ordered and found out it is for a Toyota Highlander, returned and ordered
the right part no. tow bumper facia cover PT228-16222 in the future I will get the Tow Wire Harness PT725-16220

I just bought a new Cross.....I also have a 5x8 utility trailer to haul my gas powered golf cart. All total is about 700 pounds. I'm not concerned about the 2.0 working that hard......but if you go in for a warranty issue, engine or transmission, and they see the hitch .....well, do I need to say more ???????

Installed the hitch myself. All in all pretty straight forward and the instructions are good. Loosening the trim is the part to be most careful with as the plastic tabs are pretty flimsy. Highly recommend getting some Push pin pliers to make removing the tabs easier and also plastic trim prying tools for the trim (also came in handy for the rear tail lights). Anyways, hitch is nice and hidden... Here are some pics.

Looks good. I just installed the one I purchased from ETrailers.com last August. Took about 2 hours.

Side note. The instructions that came with the hitch recommends removing the tail lights. That is not at all necessary. There are 12 threaded bolts, 2 screws and a whole bunch of reusable body rivets (or whatever they're called). If you have the XLE with the auto opening/closing hatch, there's a single wire attached to the underside of the bumper skin.

Hello, I am wondering if you every installed the tow wiring harness for the cross? If so- how did it go?

No, I don't need it since I use tow hitch for my mountain bikes only.
Hi, all. I'd like to pull a Malone 2-kayak trailer with my 2023 Cross XLE AWD. The trailer is 145 pounds. The 2 kayaks total 110 pounds.

I'm considering a Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2", but think I better let a pro do the installation.

Can anyone tell me what company would do a clean, correct install? Also, I have no idea what kit I need to connect the trailer's electrical system to my Cross. I'm also wondering if an install would affect the car's electronic and electrical systems.

Did you find an answer to your question? I only want to pull a 145 lb trailer and 2 kayaks that total 110 lbs, but in my experience car makers look for excuses not to cover warranty work.
Hi anyone installed hitch yet with the sensors in the bumper? Did you unplug them and have to recalibrate the sensors or did the work fine after you plugged them back in? I am almost ready to install on my XLE with cross traffic and the other safety features and need to know what to expect.
Thanks for any help it's appreciated.
