I think it would be best, in keeping with it's low power, to choose FWD because of it's lighter weight.I love it so far, I was worried that the 0 to 60 time was going to be a little slower than it was still not fast at all but it should get the job done to get on to the interstate and stuff. I just can't decide on front wheel drive or awd
That's why I like black interiors and would choose that on the XLE.I like that they made the sunroof optional (I never use it); that the majority of drivers said it was comfortable (as I get older, I prioritize comfort) and handled road imperfections well; that visibility was good (vs the CX-30 for example); that the infotainment and climate systems have knobs and buttons (YEA!); that the AWD has independent rear suspension; disappointed that it seems the rear turn signals are NOT amber (either LED or bulb-amber are IMHO safer); that 1 of the only 2 interior colors that comes in the XLE trim is mocha and tan (might get dirty too easily); that the acceleration was always described as only "adequate". BOTTOM LINE: A really good entry in the small SUV market.
Note: I saw a YouTube video by a rally driver in Malaysia who drove the 1.8l engine and CVT in manual mode (2nd and 3rd gears) and was really tearing up the road....so, that might help to get the CC moving faster.
Thanks! That video was great. I have the manual shift mode on my 2015 automatic RAV4 and I never feel it necessary to use it because of sport mode. But it is great to see you can hang out at a lower gear other than 1st on the Cross for that extra oomph when needed. Makes me feel better about the Cross.Yeah...you're right. At the beginning of the sell cycle, dealers are always sent lots of "fully loaded" models. I'll bet the initial XLE's they receive come with AWD ($1300), the JBL sound system ($1450), sunroof and auto lift gate ($1200) and the adjustable headlight packages ($600)...at about $32k total...
Here's the driving impressions link of the 1.8l from Malaysia:
I am actually quite surprised so many reviewers didn't even try manual mode. They just complained instead. I certainly would have liked seeing that, especially with a US spec.Yeah...that rally driver really hustles! After seeing all the reviewers complaining about the Cross' acceleration, it's good to see an opposing view. Glad you liked it

I think it's going to be a big winner for Toyota. It's one of the better looking small crossovers you can get right now I think. Now that the Cross is out and thoroughly reviewed, what do you think?
Welcome to the forum @Buckeyeboy! Was it the styling that got you interested in the Corolla Cross? Are you planning on ordering one when it comes out?all automobiles have their pluses and minuses. It seems that the consensus of the recently released initial videos of the USA built CC is that it looks good, rides good, sight lines from the driver’s seat are good, quality of the interior pieces are good, mileage is good, and predicted reliability is good. Sticker pricing should be affordable, if staying away from pricey trim levels, options and add ons. 0-60 times are slow. And I agree with PNWCCFAN. All things considered, the CC XLE is at the top of my “if I had to buy a vehicle today” list.
My 2017 Rav4 Platinum has a ton of features I have yet to use. I am afraid to leave the sunroof open should we get a surprise rainstorm, so I never use the thing. We ordered the Corolla Cross LE Premium Package (Canada) , mostly for the remote start option. It is coming with a sunroof that we will likely not use. Thanks! That video was great. It is one of my pet peeves on how dealers load them down with options as they prep them, in addition to coming that way from the factory.
I use IS295 and 95 around Jacksonville Fl. and I have no problem with speed what so ever! No doubt in my mind AWD is the way to go.I love it so far, I was worried that the 0 to 60 time was going to be a little slower than it was still not fast at all but it should get the job done to get on to the interstate and stuff. They say awd rides better and that's what I have. It's great. Didnt pay that much for awd and it's a no brainer in Canada.I love it so far, I was worried that the 0 to 60 time was going to be a little slower than it was still not fast at all but it should get the job done to get on to the interstate and stuff. Manual mode good for engine braking in hilly country. Thanks! That video was great.
