Side Mirror Folding Moving Mechanism Scratch

Is this area base moving mechanism of the side mirror where it rotate to fold is normal to scratch?

Some may think it may be a dumb question but others says that there should be a gap to prevent from scraping.

I have the car for 3 weeks and I am now seeing a lot of scratchers especially on the driver side where we need to fold especially if you are parking on the side street.

The photo attached is when the side mirror is fold. Ofcourse if the sidemirror is unfold the scratch is behind the side mirror.
