Rush Acceleration - Cruise Control - Corrolla Cross 2022

Hello!
Going at 70 MPH with Dynamic Cruise Control. Truck in front of me at 50 MPG, the car slows down to 50 MPG as expected. When the truck moves away the car rushes to get up to 70 MPG again. It is ok to go back to 70 MPG, but I believe the acceleration is excessive.
It feels like if the gas has been floored, the revs go very high, it is a bit scary, it does not feel safe and sucks gasoline like crazy.
None of my other cars do this, including my Rav4. The Rav4 will go back to 70 MPH, but the acceleration is way less, it doesn't rev like crazy, it goes up incrementally.

I told Fairfax Toyota service about this today. The rep was very dismissive and condecending, and told me it was "normal".

Is this normal? Have you had a similar experience?

not sure if it is normal, haven't had mine out at highway speed for a trip yet. I am this weekend so I will try it. keep in mind a car with a cvt will rev higher when accelerating back to speed then for example a rav4 with an 8 speed.. I would say yes normal. but someone else might have insight on here that had a similar experience.

It's normal in my experience. The sudden acceleration back up to 70 might be more normal when driving at high speeds on interstate roads when everyone else is driving at 70 - or above - when you don't want your car to accelerate slowly and impede traffic behind you. But, on two lane roads the sudden acceleration seems excessive. I just press the center/OFF button and accelerate more gradually (for me) and reset the cruise control when I reach the speed I desire. YMMV.

I used to drive a 2021 C-HR and that was exactly the same!
You are absolutely right, it will suck gas like crazy! I haven’t tried the cruise control with my CC yet, will do soon just to see how it goes.

hey
Well, I just tried the cruise control and you are absolutely right!
The sudden acceleration is very excessive and one other thing I noticed is that doesn’t matter the distance I keep from the car in front of me, it will keep the acceleration and than a hard brake!!!
the only good side of it all = saves more gas!
I don’t think I’ll be using the cruise control in the city tho.

YIKES!!! I have yet to use the Dynamic Cruise Control yet...tbh, I have been afraid to! Btw, these Toyota service dents really are awful. The ones I've been to are absolutely dismissive. = (
