Recommendations for hitch, OEM vs Uhaul

Hello! Ive been browsing a lot of posts about hitches here on the forum but wanted to get some more information from those who have put a hitch on their cross.

On Toyotas part website, there’s a listing for two different hitches; the Activity Mount PT22816220 and the Tow Hitch Receiver PT22816221. Is there any difference between the two? Is it even worth considering or because of thier dramatically low tow rating would it be a waste to put it on.

While I may like the cleaner look of the oem, I’m more concerned about the ground clearance since the oem hitch is a lot higher up than the pics I’ve seen of the aftermarket hitches. Anyone have any recommendations or insight on this? Thanks

Worth mentioning to that I’d most often use the hitch for a multi bike rack. May also use it to tow one of those smaller 5x8 uhaul cargo trailer for when I move.

It took about 2 hours total to install this 2" Class 1 hitch from Etrailers. The hitch is a perfect replacement for the bumper.

Forgot to mention, a roughly 3"X2" piece of lower valance had to be trimmed. Not at all difficult.
Thanks for the reply! With that after market hitch, does it affect clearance at all being that low? Would a hitch like that be able to tow a small uhaul trailer or is it strictly activity mount like the oem hitch? I fear w a class 1 towing I may run into issues

Ground clearance is not affected. The hitch (Curt) has 1.5 to 2 inches more ground clearance than the muffler.
The OEM tow hitch is well constructed and has extra mounting plates. To me, it looks beefier than aftermarket. Having said that, the tow rating is still 1500lbs max, just like aftermarket hitches. The "activity mount is Not a tow hitch. only meant to attach a bicyle rack to the car.
