Just bought a 2023 Corolla Cross L - AWD two days ago. I hear a weird rattling noise whenever climbing uphill to my condo. Has anyone else experienced this? Taking it back to the dealership in the morning.

I have the same thing on mine. It happens when you drive really slow and the transmission just shifted to the cvt from the launch gear. The engine revs go really low when that happens. It also happens when going uphill. Sounds like engine or cvt chain rattling but I doubt it's that. jpmccormac is right, It could just be a loose heat shield or whatever.
What I do is to depress the gas pedal more than usual so the engine revs go a bit higher. My 1st service is due in about 1.5k miles and I plan to ask the dealer or at least demo it to them and see what they say. But seems your going to the dealer first so give us a heads up.

So this issue seems like a common thing among the corolla cross. I wonder if this is also happening to corollas with the same engine and transmission.
I found a way around the rattling noise…if going uphill I use manual mode or I make sure to keep revs below 1500 rpm so it won’t shift out off 1st gear. On flat surfaces while driving really slow and it shifts to the cvt, there‘s a sweet spot between stepping on the gas and waiting for the car to accelerate on its own until it reaches 1500 rpm onwards. Press the gas pedal more and you’ll have the rattling sound. It sounds more like cvt chain slap to me than engine noise. But I could be wrong. I hope Toyota comes up with a software update or something to fix this issue.
