I have a 2022 Corolla Cross and have driven it in rain numerous times. Sometimes the rain was very heavy. Haven't had any issues like you describe. We love our Corolla Cross and love driving it.
I have not had a single issue, but I always make sure I turn the stop/start off, before I put it in drive. The issue is supposedly the wind shield wipers on intermittent, and the start stop on.Ok so I bought a 2023 Cross LE. Have about less than a 100 miles. I went down the Reddit rabbit hole and came across a certain issue where the engine stalls on the freeway. I guess it’s occurring in wet weather conditions AND while the wipers are on. Users are saying Toyota can’t figure it out. Some say it’s the sensor, some say it’s the battery.
I bought this car for highways and have yet to take it on one because of these Reddit posts which are seriously making me loose sleep.
Can every cross owner on this forum let me know if they have come across this situation? Please help put our minds at ease. My car is basically brand new and although it has not had THAT issue we are still very worried.

What I have been doing, rain or shine is to make sure the stop/start is turned off. This will keep me consistent. Let's hope Toyota finds a fix for this ASAP.
The car stalls out and the cluster went haywire, lost power steering. I tried putting it in park and attempted to turn it back on but it hesitated until around the third try. I have looked into lemon law for Texas, and it seems to be a hassle. 30 days in the dealership for repairs in the first 24 months / at least 4 attempts to initiate a lemon law case. I regret buying it, and for sure I will lose money on it. Luckily it's paid off, so it has no lien. Still upsetting regardless and there's many other having the same issue 22-23 with any trim configuration.Did you put it in park, turn off the car, then turn on the car again? Also have you looked into your states lemon law? May be better than a trade. Dealer will buy it back but it won’t be close to what you paid.
2 weeks of ownership and out she goes. I'm glad I got rid of it. I picked up a new 2023 TRD offroad, no more issues. I did lose on the trade in, but made it up on getting the truck 2k under msrp and removing the 1k addendumMy brand new 2023 Cross XLE AWD had the problem on the FIRST DAY I drove it. On my way to work, I stopped at the red light in downtown traffic. It shut off, as it should, and did not restart. All sorts of warnings on the dash and beeps. Interestingly, it had just started to rain so I turned on the wipers. Came across this Forum and the Reddit threads and let my salesperson know right away. It's been back with the dealer for 3 days now; they claim to not be aware that there is a problem (not sure I believe that). No issue when the Auto Start/Stop is turned off. I have no problem turning it off, but I expect on my brand new car that every single feature should work!
basically it’s a feature where your engine is idle at red lights so that you are not consuming a lot of gas. It’s not just Toyota, lots of car manufacturers have this feature in their new cars. My spouse has it in his bmw. Really no escaping it unless you buy a car with older tech. And yes the hybrids will have it too. What is the start stop button? I don't have a Cross yet but am hoping to get a hybrid. Is this also in hybrids?
I was considering a trade for a Corolla but just seemed like I was getting the short end of the stick. Dealer didn’t want to cut me a check for the equity and wanted to call it even. Not for a Corolla I won’t. I’ll hold on to it for a while.2 weeks of ownership and out she goes. I'm glad I got rid of it. I picked up a new 2023 TRD offroad, no more issues. Falling apart? Like cosmetic stuff?2022 LE FWD
Never had this problem.
Car seems to be falling apart here and there since I got it brand new!
17k miles already.
Lot of noises and repairs under warranty but nothing like you said.
I am very aware of this situation and from what I’ve seen here and on Reddit, it seems to be an issue with the AWD both years 2022/2023… I might be totally wrong but I could only find complaints from AWD owners.
that's a definite no go. I only got rid of it because of the stalling issue otherwise I would have kept the car. I was not going to buy since they did not want to drop the cost of the new truck by 1k. Manager came out and tried to beg me followed by trying to insult me stating "too much truck for you" for 1k more to make a deal, I stuck to my price, left the dealer. As I was about to drive off salesman runs out and tried to split the difference at 500, I said no and drove off. I went to eat lunch with my dad and salesman called me we had a deal. I went back and verified the numbers financed the remaining balance. All in all no addendum ($1,098 removed) and $2,000 off msrp on a $47,077 Tacoma. 23,500 for the trade in on the original 25500 msrp of the cross.I was considering a trade for a Corolla but just seemed like I was getting the short end of the stick. I read on a different thread that Toyota is aware of the issue and is working on a software update to fix it. I don’t like the on/off feature either and turn it off.Ok so I bought a 2023 Cross LE. I’ve put about 4,800 miles on mine, many of those in the rain on the interstate, and I’ve never had any issues like that.Ok so I bought a 2023 Cross LE. Have about less than a 100 miles.
