Just purchased model that does not have rear wiper without realizing it at first. What a blunder by Toyota, this is a safety feature, cannot imagine driving without a wiper in snow or sleet. You may be able to get away with RainX in rain, but not in sleet or snow. Checked with dealer, there's no upgrade path, so considering returning it!

It's TERRIBLE during rain or sleet..absolutely NO visibility...accident waiting to happen....so cheap on Toyotas part...had I realized it before I drove it off the lot I wouldn't have gone through with the purchase!

Not having a rear wiper is a safety issue especially with the snow and ice here in NS. Probably the one thing I dislike most about the Cross. I have to manually squeeze the back windshield every time I drive it. Toyota should recall this model and install a wiper! Very dangerous indeed.

This seems SO out of character for Toyota! They included so many safety features on all models of the Cross, it's hard to imagine why they didn't think a rear wiper/washer this was needed for safety.?.

Perhaps wait a little while for these to start showing up in salvage yards, and get an undamaged replacement rear hatch from an XLE? Most cars sustain most damage on the front half after an accident that lands them in the junk yard.

Even on the cheapest base model Subaru Crosstrek includes the rear wiper/washer. But they don't include some of the other fancy safety features that the Cross does on the base L model. If my XLE didn't have one, I would have taken it back. We are constantly using the rear wiper/washer when driving in the mountain snow and slush...which we're confronted with almost everyday 6 months out of the year. After a few miles of driving, the rear window might as well not be there without it. The spray wraps around the rear of the car, often putting more crap on the rear window than on the front. Same for the rear camera btw...pretty much useless.
