I have a 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid XSE AWD which has had two occurrences of a complete Hybrid System Failure / Check Engine / Emergency Brake failure event. The car has 1,090 miles on it and except for the spare tire issue that everyone talks about has been a pleasure to drive but this new occurrence is awful. The first event was on 4/5/2024 on my driveway. Press the brake pedal, push start and immediately received "emergency brake system failure". I shut down the system and tried to restart it and received the "hybrid system failure", contact Toyota Service.
This went on for 30 minutes during which every warning light that could come on did and the car would not move an inch. I waited 5-10 minutes before trying again and then, the car started as normal. The next morning, I received a phone call from my Toyota dealer asking me if I was in an accident and OK? The car had reported all the error codes to the service department on its own. Everything was fine without any issues for the or the next three days and then on 4/9/2024 while out shopping the event repeated. Thankfully, this time the car would at least drive all the while displaying the "hybrid system failure" alarm. I drove directly to my Toyota dealership and pulled right into their service bay.
After waiting for two hours, the service rep came out and handed me my keys and a report that reads "Tech could not find a current issue did find history codes recommends coming back if issue persists".
