Have 1K on our new Cross, and was in some steep hills, used the manual cvt option and was extremely impressed how the power curve so easily powered me,and engine slowed me down hill...very happy, reviews didn't talk about this....

I don't have my Cross yet (my build date is May 5th), but that manual option on the CVT is news to me and I haven't seen it mentioned in reviews either. I looked it up in the Cross .PDF manual (p. 169) and it's explained there.
FYI. You can download the English version of the manual from Toyota here: 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross Manuals & Warranties | Toyota Owners

I think I only saw only one review where the driver really cranked it up with manual mode. It was impressive.
Thanks for the real life experience you shared.
Here is that review which showed the extra power you could wring out of the Cross using the "manual" shift function.
