US Rav4’s have this gap too but euro versions have a rubber seal on it. You can actually order it from Toyota If you have a Rav4. Too bad no such part for our corolla cross as of now. This is what I did to mine. Rubber seals from amazon.

Awesome! It actually looks really cool too. Thank you for the suggestion! I'll have to look into it.

Lots of obvious-but-sneaky corner-cutting on newer vehicles to help offset all the idiotic/unnecessary tech-bloat they are cramming into the vehicles these days. My less-expensive (& problem-free) 2015 Yaris SE hatch was a lot better built vehicle than my problematic 2020 TNGA Corolla SE sedan was, which was why I ditched the Corolla early & switched to my first Mazda earlier this year - which has been great thus far.

Exactly what I used on mine. Easy to install since the black plastic inside the headlights sits exactly at the edge of the hood. I would have preferred to install it under the hood but it won’t work that way. 🙂

Just ordered some of this weather stripping for my new Cross too. I'd like to keep the engine compartment clean as it is now. I also have a battery tender (sophisticated trickle charger) mounted under there that I'd prefer to keep dryer/cleaner.

It can minimize water intrusion in the engine bay. Surprisingly my engine bay still gets wet if I drive in the rain. A bit wet compared to my wife’s Rav4. Still raining in LA so haven’t checked where all the water comes from.
