Hi,
I'm looking into buying the 2024 corolla cross hybrid, I live in the middle east so the version we have has different specs than the us version, it comes with a 1.8L engine (Looking at wikipedia it seems o be called 2ZR-FXE) full specs:
t
But i noticed one deal breaker for me: The noise of the gas engine is very high when i turned it on, i didn't even drive the car, just turned it on at the showroom and pressed the pedal so that the gas engine is turned on, and it was like i was inside a tractor, the engine noise is very prominent from inside the cabin and also to anyone near the car.
when the car is running on the electric motor then there is no noise at all, but as soon as the gas engine is engaged, then the engine noise is heard loud and clear.
I also asked the dealer about this noise and he told me that this noise problem exist in multiple of Toyota's new hybrid cars, at least in the corolla hybrid and the rav4 hybrid, the only car that doesn't have this problem is the camry !
My question is does the US models have the same issue? or is this problem only in the 1.8L version? if it is a global problem, how do you guys deal with it? do owners just choose to ignore it?
Regards
