My new 2023 Cross XLE with JBL turns off the radio instantly when the motor is turned off.
I guess this is SOP for Toyota, as my wife's Rav4 does the same thing.

I'm really used to having the radio etc stay on for a few minutes after shutting off the ignition. Then usually turning off when the door is opened. I've gotten kinda used to this in other cars I've had however...and miss it.

As it is, I tend to leave the motor running for a bit sometimes when I'm trying to listen to something, and I don't want it interrupted. Not a very efficient way to go, and not very good in the garage.

Can someone lead me to some settings to do this? Or is it impossible for some silly reason?

I know I can switch to accessory operation by pushing the Start button again, but then I've lost much of what I was trying to listen to (takes quite a while to restart the radio playing).

Thanks!

I think I've found a work-around for this....
In the massive manual, it says you can hold the button on the shifter while turning off the ignition, and the accessories will stay on. This would be a two handed operation. Kinda silly actually. Haven't tried it yet.

There is something else in the manual about Acc on or off from the media display screen. It doesn't seem to do what I want it to however.

Ok...for anyone following my gibberish here...
The work-around of holding the trigger on the shifter while shutting off the engine does keep the accessories on. But, it also keeps the ignition on...but the motor does stop. This isn't the best solution.

However...I did find that on the media screen (only when the engine is running) there's a "Customization" section. In there, there's a simple switch that just really says "Acc". Your choice is either on or off. There's no real description on what it does. Mine was defaulted to ON. You would think that means that the Accessories would stay ON. NOT SO my fellow Cross lovers. That switch set to ON means your Accessories will turn off immediately when the motor is switched off. As near as I can tell, that's the Toyota default. My 2023 Cross came that way, and so did my wife's Rav4.

SO, turning the Acc to OFF under the "Customize" section causes them to actually stay ON after the motor is shut off...and they stay on till the drivers door (or perhaps others) are opened...Just like 99% of the other cars out there.

In Toyota-speak...On = Off, and Off = On I guess when it comes to the Accessories power.
