Just purchased a 2026 CC Hybrid SE for my wife and after getting it home (of course), she realized how bad the backup camera is compared to our 2023 RAV4 Hybrid XLE. Aside from the inferior resolution, she really misses the guidelines that were present on the RAV4. This oversight was a “ blind spot” (pun intended) on the initial test drive because there wasn’t a need to reverse at that time. Never would have thought to think of the features of a backup camera due to the assumption that the technology of 10 years ago would continue to improve on the newer cars, especially Toyotas. Well, we were wrong, and the SE camera is pretty poor.
Too late now 😂. It is what it is at this point. But with that being said, does anyone know if the camera is interchangeable with the XSE model? I’m curious if the guidelines would be part of the camera or the software of the radio. I’ve read numerous posts about the backup camera's on the SE leaving a lot to be desired, but nothing about a swap.
Overall, it’s a really nice car, and the backup camera is a first world problem to be sure. But if it’s something doable, I’d be interested in pursuing it further.
Thanks for any insight or suggestions.
