I must be really thick, but I just can't think of any reason to fold the mirrors anyway -- I just thought they folded so they wouldn't break off in a tight garage or parking lot entry, ha.

If it's to protect them in a car wash, then duh who'd use a car wash with brushes that could knock off your mirrors ...so many car washes to choose from without risk of that, and besides the mirrors benefit from a wash too ...turned in they just collect water spots.

?? - if a parking space is so tight it can't allow a side mirror, then it won't allow the door to open either. I suppose with the emergency back hatch release you could crawl out the back. Is that what Europeans have to do?

We allow motorcycles to lane share. I have folded my wing mirrors to allow motorcyclists through...[/QUOTE said:
Do motorcyclists fold back their own mirrors so they can pass through? Seems like the onus is on them since they are the one taking the action. But anyway, as a motorcyclist myself, not knowing which, or if, a car I'm passing will fold it's mirror is a set-up for an accident --you're not actually helping motorcyclists generally.

Any other reasons folks can invent for their folding mirrors?
